Stoneware Gallery

My stoneware pieces are both thrown and hand built using a white stoneware clay body.  Many of the surfaces have textured detailing achieved through the addition of clay that is then incised and imprinted with various found materials such as bone, coral, and ancient artifacts.

After bisque firing, the textured areas are stained with oxide and then wiped clean, leaving the oxide within the textured grooves.  These areas must be covered with wax before glazing to retain the detail of the oxide in the texture. The Cone 6 glazes used are all food safe.
